Dogs will usually jump on you, family, friends or your guests because they are happy and excited to see you. Their first reaction is to share all of that excitement with you by jumping up and down on you repeatedly.

Doing so forces your dog down on all fours.  Once your dog is down on his four paws, come down to his level by kneeling or sitting on the floor.  Greet your dog with lots of attention and reward him with a treat. 

Ensure every time your dog attempts to jump on you, you repeat the method to create a habit.  After a few days, your dog will automatically stay on all fours as he will be expecting attention and a treat.  The same method should also be used by any person who your dog jumps on to reinforce positive behavior.

Another option to stop a dog from jumping is to not give the dog any attention when they jump.  If you completely ignore the jumping, you're not giving your dog attention; eventually the dog will realize they will have to get your attention another (hopefully more positive) way.
