How to Stop a Dog from Digging Tip # 6
If you have a suspicion that this has happened or will happen try on the following strategies to stop a dog from digging
1. Ground Pepper – the smell of this offends and deters most dogs from digging.
2. Scatter the earth with small rocks which will feel unpleasant to the dog’s paws.
3. Place chicken wire around the plants, trees or vegetables you want to protect as well as underneath the ground where your dog always wants to dig.
A dog that is left alone for long periods of time with nothing to do may have a tendency to become bored and will look for something to keep it occupied.
If you are going to be away for a long period of time you may want to consider getting a dog sitter to look after your dog or you may want to consider taking your dog to doggie day-care, which is similar to a play-center for small children. You drop your dog off in the morning and pick him up after work;
experienced trainers at the center will supervise play with other dogs, and supply them with engaging, stimulating activities. This option is a little more expensive, but very effective and your dog will love you for it.
