Bulldog training should begin as soon as your pup is brought home and this includes socializing your pup with other dogs and people.
Choosing Your Bulldog Pup
Bulldogs take a lot of looking after and care.
They are prone to many problems with their health so you should check that the pup is in optimal health paying particular attention to his eyes, nose and ears and slobering all over you with there big dog licking
Bulldogs can be aggressive towards other dogs so ensure that the dog you choose has either already been socialized or you are prepared to take the time to socialize and train your Bulldog pup.
Bulldog Puppy Training
Your Bulldog pup should be housetrained first. Bulldogs have a tendency to be stubborn so it will take some time and patience on your part to train your pup. Crate training is the best method of housebreaking a Bulldog.
After your Bulldog pup has been housetrained you need to teach him that you are the pack leader and he needs to follow your commands at all times. He should be taught not to nip, bite or jump up on people.
When your pup is between 3-6 months the next phase for your Bulldog is teaching him basic dog training commands
Due to his strong personality and stubbornness your Bulldog may listen to but choose not to respond straight away to your commands.
This is where strong leadership, patience, calm assertive and positive reinforcement training should be used.
Bulldogs are also very curious by nature and may want to explore the world around them.
It’s important that you teach your pet from early on not to run after cars.
Your Bulldog should also not be taken off his leash until you have trained him to come to you straight away when called; this is to ensure the safety of both you and your Bulldog.
Training your Bulldog pup properly may seem difficult at first.
Patience and persistency will play a key part in training your precious pet.
Once he has been taught properly though you will find your Bulldog to be loyal and attentive.
